at rosetta mcclain gardens in early fall - 2010

the remnants of summer
i must apologize, but i'm not so familiar with the names of a lot of flowers. so rather than guess, if i don't know what the flower is called, i will just leave the frame blank. if you happen by here and you know the name of any of the flowers here, i'd appreciate your leaving a message. you see, i've been wanting all summer long to come to rosetta mcclain gardens to take pictures of the lovely summer flowers, but my weekends have been so busy taking care of two very impressionable grandsons. today is the only free time i had and i know i am too late for the flowers. most of the flowers are at the last stage of their seasonal life but they are still magnificently beautiful. enjoy browsing through the photographs.

a trip to rosetta mcclain gardens

looking in from the entrance

looking back at the entrance

purple and yellow mums
hanging plants

the trees are starting to show their fall colours

the waters of lake ontario

a sailboat on a cloudy, yet beautiful fall day on lake ontario

the inner garden grounds

"and the leaves that are green, turn to brown" (from simon & garfunkel)

"and they wither with the wind..."

a walk in the park

where are the "old friends"?

three evergreens

the falling leaves....

a garden of waxed begonias, in beautiful colours

just like in a dream...

close up of the evergreen

the "rock of moses"?

close up of a pine needle

the autumn leaves of green and gold

and soon, even the new ones become none.
