Christmas in the City

the stores were selling Christmas wares like this one at a local supermarket on the danforth as early as after thanksgiving in October.

these poinsettas were photographed at the canyon creek on front street.

danforth is all dressed up for the holidays.

and this is the scene on the danforth going eastbound from victoria park.

sidewalk displays like this one were in abundance.

and this.

a close up of that sidewalk display.

this is the park on front street by the flatiron building.

the snowflake Christmas tree display - this serves as the fountain during the summer.

trees like this one are all dressed up with colourful lights.

the tree with the flatiron building as a backdrop.

more trees dressed up in colourful lights.

the Christmas tree at Brookfield place.

the ceiling lights at brookfield place - a thousand lights or more, i would guess.

autumn landscapes

this was how danforth avenue (looking west towards monarch park avenue) looked like four saturdays ago.

and now it looks like this.

still on the danforth going east (from the parkette looking north) this was taken three saturdays ago.

now, that same tree above, is the second tree from the right on this picture.

walking towards east on the danforth, past coxwell avenue, this tree, just before you reach mcdonald's, looked like this two saturdays ago.
today, i took a picture of the same tree and it's balder than a man with a windblown toupee (not that there's anything wrong with being bald).

at rosetta mcclain gardens in early fall - 2010

the remnants of summer
i must apologize, but i'm not so familiar with the names of a lot of flowers. so rather than guess, if i don't know what the flower is called, i will just leave the frame blank. if you happen by here and you know the name of any of the flowers here, i'd appreciate your leaving a message. you see, i've been wanting all summer long to come to rosetta mcclain gardens to take pictures of the lovely summer flowers, but my weekends have been so busy taking care of two very impressionable grandsons. today is the only free time i had and i know i am too late for the flowers. most of the flowers are at the last stage of their seasonal life but they are still magnificently beautiful. enjoy browsing through the photographs.
